A retirement party is a great occasion to highlight someone’s interests while reflecting on their past. Here are some fun ideas:

Collect photographs from their office from day one to the present. Scan the photos and make a slideshow presentation. Set this up in a corner of the room and just let it play through the duration of the party. Try to insert personal family photos into the slideshow as well. At the end of the party, present the retiree with a copy of the slideshow on a CD.

For table decorations, give each table a theme that relates to the retiree’s interests outside of work. Maybe they are an avid sports fan, photographer, or collector. At the end of each table, provide a short description of the reason these items were here and how they applied to the retiree's life.
