Make an invitation list – The rule of thumb is to invite 20 percent more people than you hope to have attend. Especially during busy times of year, people’s schedules tend to fill up fast!

Send invitations - Mail, e-mail, even phone your guests!  Make sure to request an RSVP

Plan the menu - Assemble the recipes. Make a list of how far in advance each can be made, and then jot down a shopping list of ingredients. If you’re placing an order, it’s a good idea to get in touch with you vendor early.

Helping hands – Don’t be afraid to ask close family members or friends to help you in advance or to pitch in during the post party clean up. It doesn’t hurt to hire help either; students or caterers can really help to take the weight off your shoulders.
